I'm pleased to announce that the 2006 Mrs. Alaska is 33 year old Michelle Martin of Anchorage, Alaska.

Not only did she win the title, she also was recognized for her Community Service. She is a Clinical Therapist and business owner. She works with the Anchorage Alaska School District Child in Transition/Homeless Project. She formerly worked with the FBI. She returned to college and graduated in 2000 with a 4.0 GPA. She has a a degree in Liberal Studies and Masters of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology.

As a former cancer survivor she volunteers for ChemoAngels, an organization dedicated to adding hope and joy to those undergoing treatment for cancer.

1st Runner-Up was Jeannine Jabaay of Anchorage, owner of a construction company. 2nd Runner-up Erika Bennett a bush pilot of Talkeetna. 3rd Runner-up Cheryl Sweet a Staff Sergeant in the Army. 4th Runner-up Bettsie Wild of anchorage and a Children's Advocate for the State of Alaska.

Michelle is busily working with her the State Director, Rita Corwin in getting prepared for the National competition being held in Tucson in September.
